Leviticus 16:1-22, 29-34 (NIV)
1. (16:1-14) High Priest prepares himself
2. (vv.15-19) High Priest makes atonement for the people's sins
3. (vv.20-22, 29-34) High Priest confesses & transfers all the sins to the "scapegoat"
4. The people watch as their sin and guilt are removed from their presence. (Ps 103:12; Micah 7:18-19)
5. Jesus is our High Priest, our Substitute/Sacrifice, permanently removing our sin, guilt and shame. (2 Cor 5:21; Heb 9 & 10; 1 Pet 2:24; 3:18; Rom 12:1)
