God is our Mighty Warrior

Judges  Chapters 6-8

1. Brief Recap: Moses==>Joshua==>Judges

 A. (Josh 1:8-9) "Keep God's Word...be careful to do everything written in it. Then you   will be prosperous and successful...Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

 B. (Josh 2:9-11) "great fear has fallen on all who in this country who are melting in fear because of you." The people heard how the Lord fought for them, bringing them out of Egypt. They feared Him.

 C. (Josh 4) Memorial stones for all to remember God's deliverance through the Jordan River, and into the Land of Promise.

 D. Josh 24:14-15 NIV) "Now fear the Lord and serve Him with all faithfulness...But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve...But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!"

 E. Judges 2:10-18 "there arose another generation after them who did not know the Lord or the work He had done for Israel. And the people did what was evil in the sight of the Lord and served (other gods), they abandoned the Lord...the Lord was against them, as He had warned...Then the Lord raised up judges, who saved them..."

 F. 12 Judges, including Deborah, Gideon and Samson

2. Gideon (chapters 6-8): from coward to conqueror 

 A. God cares for us, helps us grow in our faith, he fights our battles

 B. Don't let pride take the glory from God.  (8:27) Gideon made an (idol) and all Israel worshipped it...(v.33) and when he died, the people (worshipped other gods) and did not remember the Lord God who delivered them from their enemies."

3. (Judges 17:6; 21:25) “in those days there was no king in Israel.  Everyone did what was right in their own eyes.” 

4. Only Jesus would be our perfect Righteous Judge, Mighty Warrior, and King of all Kings.
